Carriers is a sonic installation using an industrial pump and mixed media. In relation to our sensitivity to pain and how this subject matter systematically allies with negativities in the human world (e.g. misunderstandings, hatred, class/race/gender conflicts), the installation aims to show a landscape where heterogeneous elements merge into each other (in the Mire’s words, ‘as if cooking when you are drunk’), creating a refreshing sensorial turmoil. Carriers reminds us in both subtle and fierceful ways how pain and imperfection are made to be strangers instead of being embraced as most human values.
